Student Attachment with Kyushu University
"Empowering Future Innovators Through Global Exchange"
We were delighted to have Ms. Nurlisa, a Master's student from Kyushu University in Japan, join us at our future microbiome research centre for a one-month attachment in February 2025. Nurlisa worked on her Master’s project, which explored the gut microbiome and metabolite profiles among children in the Philippines—a topic of great significance for public health research. During her time with us, Nurlisa had the unique opportunity to expand her knowledge in bioinformatics, a field of expertise led by our Centre Director, Dr. Chong Chun Wie. This hands-on experience equipped her with valuable skills to analyze complex microbiome data. In addition to her training, Nurlisa presented her research during a collaborative workshop, engaging with experts from Japan and fostering international academic exchanges. Beyond her professional growth, Nurlisa also made lasting connections and friendships, enriching her experience and contributing to the spirit of global collaboration that defines our future centre.
