🎓 Undergraduate International Exchange (IE) program

Welcome to the undergraduate International Exchange (IE) program guide. This program allows Monash students to study at another Monash partner universities while completing their course at Monash Malaysia.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

What is needed? View

1. Access MonPlan
  - Click Create a New Course Plan to start.
  - Select Prefill Enrolment Information to save time.
2. Plan Your Entire Course Duration
  - Include all semesters, including future ones.
  - Mark your exchange semester as 'Study Abroad' by clicking on the three dots appearing next to the relevant semester period.
3. Submit for Approval
  - Click the Review box.
  - Add a note:
    “This MonPlan needs to be approved for IE S1, 2027. The equivalent units that I plan to take are FITxxxx, FITxxxx….. ”
  - Your Course Director/ Coordinator will approve the plan.
  - After approval, download a PDF copy using the Print button.
4. Monplan Submission Deadline
  - Submit your MonPlan at least 7 working days prior to the GIP deadline.
⚠️ Tip: Ensure units listed in MonPlan GIP semester match your Study Plan units. Units can be adjusted within the approved Study Plan.

Having trouble with MonPlan?
Just send a PDF of your course map to your Course Director/Coordinator by email for approval
- The Study Plan lists all units you will take at the host institution along with their syllabi.
- The School will use it to check the units' equivalency.
Checklist:
- Provide the latest syllabi for the host institution's units.
- Ensure units are available for exchange students.
- Check the level: Postgraduate only.
- Confirm units are offered in your IE semester.
✅ Tip: Save your elective units for your exchange semester. Electives are easier to find abroad and offer a wider range of options compared to IT core units.
- Monash Abroad will send enrolment instructions to eligible students via email.
- The School will enrol approved units and notify students once enrolment is completed.
- Only School-approved units are eligible for credit transfer.
- Any enrolment changes must be submitted before the official enrolment deadline, refer the Monash Academic Calendar.
- Results will be recorded as SFR (Pass) or NSR (Fail).
⚠️ Reminder:
- Check your course map to ensure there is space for IE units.
- Only School-approved units will be enrolled and eligible for credit transfer.
International students must enrol in at least 24 CP. If enrolling in 18 CP, confirm that the host university allows this and inform the School via AskMira. The School will advise on the next steps.

Important Information

- Final year project units, FIT3199, FIT3045
- Participation in the International Exchange (IE) program during your final semester is allowed but not recommended, as it may delay course completion or graduation. - Condition: Students must have completed both Final Year Project units, have a minimum of 18 CP, and meet the host university’s 18 CP enrolment requirement.
