Women in Tech Speaker Series: Inspiring the Next Generation

On 24 September 2025, the ACM-W Student Chapter at Monash University Malaysia launched the first session of its Women in Tech Speaker Series, featuring Dr Lee Mei Sin, a Monash alumna and accomplished leader in the technology field.

The evening began with welcoming remarks from the Chair of the ACM-W Student Chapter who introduced the chapter’s mission to empower women in technology and create platforms for dialogue, mentorship and inspiration.

Dr Lee captivated the audience with her professional journey spanning both industry and academia. From her early roles in the tech sector to pursuing a PhD at Monash University Malaysia, serving as a postdoctoral fellow and returning to industry, her story highlighted the diverse pathways available to women in technology.

She also introduced several AI organizations in Malaysia by encouraging students to explore opportunities for involvement. As Treasurer of Women in AI Malaysia, Dr Lee emphasized the importance of women supporting one another and building communities that amplify female voices in a male-dominated field.

Beyond her reflections, Dr Lee shared practical strategies for building strong career profiles by equipping attendees with actionable tools to showcase their potential.
