How have your studies helped to prepare you for the working world?

Studying in Monash gave me the ability to adapt to the working world in such a way that for certain things we have to do research and learn on our own with and without the help of others. This has made an easy transition for me into the working world.

Did you participate in any student activities or opportunities?

I have attended multiple talks organised by the School of IT such as Monash Industry Talks, which helped me to have an idea of IT roles in companies and organisations. In 2011, I participated and volunteered for Intelligent Systems Boot camp  and IT Boot Camp in 2012. These activities helped me to broaden my knowledge and gave me the opportunity to share my knowledge in IT with school students.

What did you enjoy most about your studies here?

For me, it’s interesting and I like that the program is flexible and I can focus a lot on my interests. Also helps build an understanding of topics of interest.

What were the most challenging aspects and how did you overcome them?

We had to do our own research on some of the topics and learn new programming languages in certain subjects. I am lucky enough to have supportive coursemates where we teach each other what we understand and go through a topic together if we don’t understand.

Did you go for any work placements? Was the experience helpful to your personal and professional growth?

We had several trips to companies to learn about their work environment. We visited F-Secure at Bangsar South and Astro at Bukit Jalil. These visits have given me great exposure and  helped me in determining my work goals.

What are your future career goals?

I want to use technology to help and improve lives.

Do you have any advice for current Monash Malaysia students?

Never stop learning and never give up. Always take the opportunity to gain knowledge as our motto, “I am still learning”.
