MyDispense Malaysia Working Group
MyDispense Malaysia Working Group forms the core of this growing community of Practice. It brings together representatives from Malaysian universities and partner institutions who are committed to advancing simulation-based education and training in pharmacy.
The working group serves as a collaborative platform for sharing expertise, identifying local needs, and supporting discussion on MyDispense-related initiatives relevant to the Malaysian context. Its membership continues to grow, reflecting increasing interest in cross-institutional collaboration to strengthen pharmacy education and training in Malaysia.
Members and Institutions
The MyDispense Malaysia initiative continues to grow through several interconnected areas of activity that support pharmacy education, workforce development, and simulation-based learning. Many of these initiatives contribute to more than one area, including research, module development, localisation of MyDispense, and workshops.

Activities and Key Developments
The working group is actively involved in:
- regular discussions and planning meetings.
- identifying local needs and priorities.
- contributing feedback on MyDispense use and localisation.
- sharing implementation experiences and institutional perspectives.
- supporting knowledge exchange across academic and training settings.
The working group held its first meeting online on 9 April 2026 to discuss the localisation of MyDispense to Malaysian pharmacy practice. Further meetings are planned to support the ongoing localisation process.
Monash University Malaysia Strategic Collaborations
In addition to supporting the MyDispense Malaysia Community of Practice, the School of Pharmacy, Monash University Malaysia is also involved in a growing number of strategic collaborations with academic and healthcare partners. These collaborations support the development of training, teaching, and assessment initiatives related to MyDispense and simulation-based pharmacy education.
Collaboration with National University of Singapore (NUS) and Chungnam National University (CNU)
Monash University Malaysia is collaborating with the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Chungnam National University (CNU) to develop training modules related to the use of MyDispense. The partners have been meeting monthly since 15 November 2024. As part of this collaboration, a survey study has been carried out in Singapore and Malaysia to identify the need for an online training module.
Collaboration with Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS)
Monash University Malaysia is also collaborating with Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS) to develop training modules for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. Discussions have been ongoing since January 2026, and examples of potential training activities have been proposed to HSAAS as part of the collaboration.
Collaboration with Institut Latihan Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia (ILKKM)
Monash University Malaysia is collaborating with ILKKM to develop a module for pharmacy technician students. This work reflects a broader commitment to supporting pharmacy technician training and exploring how simulation and structured assessment approaches can strengthen skills development in this area.

Together, these collaborations reflect the growing scope of Monash University Malaysia’s engagement in simulation-based pharmacy education and training. They also highlight opportunities to support education, workforce development, and assessment innovation across universities, healthcare institutions, and professional training settings.
