Being one of the top Pharmacy schools globally, the Monash School of Pharmacy attracts high calibre researchers and the best postgraduate students who share and enjoy a rich interdisciplinary research and learning environment. Research at the School is structured around six focus areas that closely align with the national health priorities.
The School is endeavour to determine the safest and most effective use of medications through research in best pharmacy practices that are aligned with the health policies and cultures in Malaysia and beyond. Emphasis are also given on researching for the most effective ways in providing pertinent knowledge in medicine and self-care to the community and healthcare workers.
The research in this area mainly involve the analysis of the medication records from primary and tertiary healthcare centres, and survey through questionnaires and qualitative interviews.

An effective drug delivery system is a delivery vechicle or formulation that allows pharmaceutical compound to reach the therapeutic site without going through the non-target cells or organs. This improve the safety of the drugs and avoid triggering the unintended immunological and physiological reponses. The use of nanoparticle in medicine (or broadly known as nanomedicine) has a great potential in advancing the conventional drug delivery systems.

Neuroscience encompassed the study of the brain, neurons and the cognitive functions. The neuroscience researchers in the School of Pharmacy seeks to understand the molecular, pharmacological and genetical processes that influence the functioning of the neuron and glias. Special interest include the functions of neuronal axon guidance molecules in neuronal and glial differentiation, and central nervous system regeneration, as well as the potential of traditional chinese medicine in the treatment of neurogenerative disorders.
