About the Survey

The Monash Early Student Survey (MESS, formerly ESSFS) is an online unit evaluation survey administered in Week 4 of each semester to units at Monash University Malaysia. MESS complements the Student Evaluation of Teaching and Units (SETU), which occurs at the end of the semester. By collecting feedback earlier, this survey enables educators to quickly identify and respond to issues during the semester. More information on participating in the survey below.

For the past three years since the launch of ESSFS, feedback has been the lowest-scoring area, and we want to change that with your help! Your insights will be invaluable in shaping how student feedback is provided and improved across all schools.

All responses shared in the survey and during the focus group discussion will remain anonymous, creating a safe space for open and honest feedback.

Join us in this 'Feedback QR Quest', a fun campus-wide quest designed to increase awareness and enhance students' understanding of effective feedback. The aim is to improve the quality of feedback provided during the Early Semester Student Feedback Survey (ESSFS).

Event details

  • When: Throughout Week 3
  • Time: 8am - 6pm daily
  • Where: Monash University Malaysia, Bandar Sunway

Prizes to be won

  • 5 x RM20 Grab vouchers are up for grabs each day throughout the contest period

How it works

Starting from Monday of Week 3, QR codes will be scattered around campus. Hunt for these codes and scan the QR to reveal a question on effective feedback. Answer the question correctly to earn a point. There are a total of 20 QR codes around the campus. The more codes you scan and answer correctly, the more points you get!

At the end of each day, the top five (5) students with the highest points will win RM20 Grab vouchers each! The winners will be announced the following day, at 9am, here on the ESSFS website. The Grab vouchers will be emailed to the winners the following week (students are required to acknowledge by replying to the email). Each student can only win once.

Don't miss this chance to have fun, explore the campus, test your knowledge and win some cash!
