Next Gen Suites

Next Generation Suites (NGS) are flat floor spaces with collaborative tables, projector screens and hybrid learning capabilities, located in Building 6, Level 6. Some also function as computer labs.

To operate the Audio and Visual Equipment in the Next Gen Suite:
1. Turn on the Lectern computer if it's switched off.
2. Unlock the IPad with the provided password.
3. Open the Crestron Application.
4. Tap Projector on the toolbar.
5. Tap On to switch on the projector. The projector has to be turned on for the suite’s audio system to function.
6. Tap Down to lower the projector screen.
7. Tap Desktop to select the lectern computer as the audio and video input.
8. Turn on the Microphone.
9. Tap Volume on the toolbar. Here you can control the microphone and computer audio levels.
BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)
The Next Gen Suites are equipped with a variety of inputs. This allows you to use your personal devices for teaching. Available inputs:
- HDMI
- VGA
- Audio jack 3.5mm
1. Identify the VGA display cable and the 3.5mm audio jack.
2. Connect the VGA display cable to the VGA port of your computer. A similar approach may be taken with other available display inputs such as HDMI or display port. If your device is equipped with a Type C port, a Type C to VGA/HDMI adapter will be required.
3. Connect the 3.5mm audio jack to your device. This is only needed if the VGA connection is being used.
4. Select either the HDMI or VGA option depending on the Fliptop interface connected to your device.
5. Press the keys on your device to open the windows projection menu. Then select from the four options presented to you.
6603 and 6605 can be combined to form a larger classroom. In combined mode, a room’s lectern can be activated as the master lectern which allows the user to control the AV equipment in both rooms. Here is how to configure this option.
1. Open the Crestron Application on the IPad Home screen. The room shown in the video is 6603 (Next Gen Lab 3).
2. Tap Room Selection from the toolbar. Key in the combined mode password followed by Enter. Then tap Combined to enable combined mode.
3. Tap Projector on the toolbar. The projector and screens for both labs can be controlled here. Watch the video to see the options available.
4. Tap Volume on the toolbar. The microphone and lectern audio levels for both labs can be controlled here. Watch the video to see the options available.
5. Tap Share on the toolbar. The source selections for both audio and video are available here. Watch the video to see the options available. The options can also be done using the Lab 5 control panel if it was accessed as the master lectern.
6. Tap Room Selection from the toolbar. Key in the combined mode password, located as a sticker on the IPad, followed by Enter. Then click Individual to disable combined mode. This should always be done after the end of a combined session.
