Complete a post-arrival medical screening within 7 days of your arrival and subsequently submit your passport to the International Student Pass Office.
This is an immigration requirement to replace the ‘Temporary Pass’ with a longer term visa. This ‘endorsement’ process by the Immigration Department will take approximately 4 weeks.
All new international students are required to do a post-arrival medical screening. The medical screening is a health check that consists of a general examination by the examining doctor, blood and urine tests as well as a chest X-ray examination test.
Click here for a list of EMGS appointed clinics or hospitals. The nearest clinics to Monash University Malaysia are located in Subang Jaya. Please ensure that the clinic has an in-house X-ray facility for your convenience.
You must bring the following documents with you to the clinic for your medical screening:
- Your original passport
- TWO (2) copies of your passport data page and entry stamp page
- Health Examination Report for International Students
- Consent Letter
- Letter of Undertaking
Once you have submitted your passport, it will take approximately four to six weeks for the Student Pass endorsement process to be completed. You are advised not to make any irrevocable travel plans until you have collected your passport from us. Please note that domestic travel by commercial flights within Malaysia requires you to produce your passport at point of check-in.
Once your passport has been endorsed and ready for collection, we will contact you to collect your passport at the International Student Pass office.
All international students must have a valid medical insurance policy throughout their period of study in Malaysia. (You must have valid insurance cover for the duration of the student pass issued by the Immigration Department of Malaysia.)
The medical insurance must be obtained through Monash University Malaysia. Effective 1 January 2021, AXA Affin Life Insurance is our appointed medical insurance provider.
Once you have been registered with the insurer, you will be notified on how to access your e-medical card by downloading the MiCare MyMed mobile app from Apps Store (for iphone user) and Google Playstore (for android user).
You can then access panel clinics on cashless basis using the e-medical card. Seeking treatment at non-panel clinics are only allowed on an emergency basis or if the nearest panel clinic to your location is closed. And if you need to see a specialist, you must have a referral letter from a panel clinic doctor first.
