The Research Talk Series for 2026 follows with the fifth research talk, with our esteemed speaker Dr. Agata Frymus from the School of Arts and Social Sciences (SASS) presenting an insightful research talk titled "Malaysian Moviegoing. Researching Past Audiences and Why Does It Matter".

This research talk provides meaningful insights into moviegoing being the most popular form of entertainment in British Malaya. It dives into understanding the nation’s audiences from the films and stars they favoured, how cinema shaped their lives and self-understanding, and where popular films and actors influence the individual and communal identities.
