Library spaces

We provide an extensive range of formal and informal learning spaces to accommodate students’ activities, learning styles and work preferences.

Level 1 : Interactive Learning and Exhibition Zone

Center AreaThis space is a collaborative learning space with a variety of seating arrangements, exhibitions facilities and opportunities for collaboration. You may submit your request for a themed exhibition or showcase student projects.

Moderate level of noise is permitted here.

Level 2 : Quiet Zone

L2v2The Quiet Zone located at Level 2 is the Library’s designated floor for quiet study and individual learning. It is monitored by Library staff throughout the day to foster an environment conducive to academic work and research.

Level 3 : Quiet Zone and Collaborative Learning

Level 3 offers a wide range of multipurpose, informal and collaborative learning spaces, which include:

  • Group discussion rooms.
  • Individual study spaces.
  • Space for working on experiential learning and projects.

Group discussion rooms

Group Discussion RoomA total of 8 discussion rooms are available for group work at Level 3. Each room can accommodate maximum of 6 people and a minimum of 4 people is required to book a discussion room.Student groups may book a room for a maximum of two slots (one hour per slot) or 2 hours only per day. The same group is not allowed to book more slots under another group member’s name.

For other discussion rooms at the HIVE (managed by Facilities Management), students may book online here.

Micro Studio

Library Recording RoomThe Micro Studio in the library provides space and equipment to create and edit audio and video content for different purposes including class projects, interview practice, presentations, podcasts and other educational needs. For further details about the Micro Studio’s facilities, booking procedures, and usage guidelines, please visit this link.

Wellbeing Corner

Wellbeing Corner 1This space is located on Level 3. A cosy space to unwind, pick a motivational quote, play a game, or add to our Gratitude Tree.

Library Training Room

Library Training RoomThe Library Training Room (7-1-03) located at Level 1 is reserved to conduct workshops and trainings. Outside of scheduled workshops, students are welcome to use the room.

Library Seminar Room

Library seminar roomThe Library Seminar Room (7-2-03) located on Level 2, is reserved exclusively for lecturers to conduct classes and workshops. Students are not permitted to book this room. Staff members please contact this library staff for bookings.
