19 April 2016

Index IslamicusIndex Islamicus is THE international classified bibliography of publications in European languages on all aspects of Islam and the Muslim world from 1906 onwards until present day. It contains over 475,000 records, covering all the main Muslim areas of Asia and Africa, as well as Muslims living elsewhere, and their history, beliefs, societies, cultures, languages and literatures.

Index Islamicus via Brill Online can be accessed on the library’s trial databases page at http://guides.lib.monash.edu/subject-databases/trials until May 4.

Please note that the Brill Online interface for Index Islamicus also includes a thesaurus (see the Thesaurus tab in the middle of the page) which is useful if you are unsure of the spelling of a particular term. Brill also intends to add Arabic-language journals and content to the database later in the year.

We presently subscribe to Index Islamicus via Proquest. Therefore, we would also value your opinion about which platform (Brill Online or Proquest) suits your needs best, especially with regards to ease of use and language availability.
