CNZT Celebrates GET Grant Success by Theme Leader, A/Prof Tan Lling-Lling

The Centre for Net-Zero Technology (CNZT) celebrates another research funding success, with A/Prof Ir. Dr Tan Lling-Lling, Advanced Energy Materials (Adv-EM) Theme Leader, securing funding under Phase 1 of the inaugural Geran Penyelidikan Eksploratori dan Transformatif (GET) Research Grant 2026, awarded by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Malaysia.

Associate Professor Tan’s project, titled “Resolving Fundamental Challenges in Round-the-Clock CO₂-to-Fuel Photocatalysis using Novel, Strategically Designed Lead-Free Halide Perovskite-Based Systems,” aims to pioneer novel lead-free perovskite-based photocatalytic materials for enhanced solar-driven CO₂ conversion. Through the strategic design of safer and more efficient photocatalytic systems, the research seeks to address two key challenges associated with conventional perovskite photocatalysts: material inefficiency and safety concerns, while advancing the potential for round-the-clock CO₂-to-fuel conversion.

The GET Research Grant is a new initiative by MOHE Malaysia aimed at advancing exploratory, transformative, and fundamental research across Malaysian higher education institutions, while fostering closer collaboration between universities and domestic industry partners. Associate Professor Tan is one of eight researchers from Monash University Malaysia to receive funding through this highly competitive inaugural grant programme.
