Empowering student leaders to drive net-zero action at EcoCon 2025

Students from the Monash Carbon Capture & Conversion (MC3) Malaysia recently organised a one-day conference titled EcoCon 2025 in Monash University Malaysia on the 20th August 2025.

The student-led conference, which is co-organised with the School of Engineering and School of Science, aims to be a platform to unite students, innovators and changemakers for a greener future. This conference is also partnered by DKSH and Valio, as well as various other key sponsors including the Centre for Net-Zero Technology (Future Centre).

After opening remarks by A/Prof Ooi Chien Wei (CNZT Deputy Director), the conference commenced with insightful sustainability and career talks by DKSH and other key industry leaders. Student participants also pitched their sustainability-focused research in the Entrepreneurship and Innovation (EiHub) Challenge and the research showcase. This is then followed by an in-depth panel discussion forum titled “Sustainable Technology Innovation: How Emerging Tech (AI, Carbon Capture, Renewable Energy) is Transforming Sustainability Strategies”. Dr. Lo Sewn Cen (Research Fellow of CNZT) chaired the panel discussion, which consists of Dr. Ng Wen Cai (Research Fellow of CNZT), Mr. Alan Koay (Head of Technology Development, Amsolar Sdn. Bhd.), and Mr. Vimalan Arumugham (Founder and CEO of Telcov). In her closing remarks, Professor Emily Goh (School of Science) congratulates the organisers for the successful execution of the event and presents her wishes for its continuation in the future.
