We aim to provide complete mass spectrometry research services in proteomics and small molecule analysis that supports multidisciplinary research activities for Monash and other local and international institutions. Our laboratory is equipped with a cutting-edge Agilent LCMS system and comprehensive software for data analysis.

What is Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LCMS)?

LCMS consists of two major components - liquid chromatography (LC) and mass spectrometer (MS). A typical LC unit contains a UV detector that can detect molecules at a specific wavelength. In LCMS, we generally exchange the UV detector for a mass spectrometer. LCMS is a versatile analytical technique used to analyse and identify small molecules and proteins in biological samples. The LC-MS system is helpful in diverse research fields such as translational research, clinical diagnostics, drug discovery, environmental sciences, food and beverage assessment and industrial materials.
