Research talk series: ‘An Application of DEA and Machine Learning Approach to Risk Management’
Date posted: 11 March 2026
The Research Talk Series for 2026 follows with Associate Professor Dr Wong Wai Peng (SoIT) presenting an insightful research talk titled "An Application of DEA and Machine Learning Approach to Risk Management."
This presentation introduces a hybrid approach that integrates Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Machine Learning (ML) to strengthen risk management in the logistics sector. Using FMEA to identify risks, DEA to prioritise them, and a neural network to predict residual risk, this method helps organisations pinpoint high-risk areas and develop effective mitigation strategies. A case study involving 12 logistics service providers highlights key insights and practical implications for sustainable and resilient logistics.
Open to all Monash staff and students.
