Dr Weeming Lau

Dr Weeming Lau is a senior lecturer, medical educator and physician clinically trained in Internal and Respiratory Medicine at the Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Her educational interests centre on Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) and its transformative potential in higher education. As a 2026–2027 Education Academy (EA) Fellow, she is leading a cross-campus initiative titled Embedding AI in Curricula to Build Industry-Relevant Capabilities. Her work focuses on integrating AI as a collaborative and ethical tool in learning and teaching, fostering partnerships among staff, students, and industry to bridge theory and practice across disciplines.

This initiative addresses the longstanding disconnect between the traditional classroom and the dynamic demands of contemporary industry. By foregrounding interdisciplinary, human-centered approaches to artificial intelligence, we aim to prepare graduates who combine technical rigor with nuanced ethical judgment—individuals who will not merely employ AI tools but design their responsible and context-sensitive application within complex, rapidly evolving environments.
