Fellowship Application

The Monash University Malaysia Education Academy (MUMEA) Fellowship Program empowers and supports exceptional academic staff in driving positive change in education and leading innovative projects that align with the university's strategic plans.

As a fellow, you will have the opportunity to make an institutional contribution to learning and teaching and influence MUM’s educational practices that enhance the student experience and student outcomes when new challenges or priorities arise.

As a MUMEA Fellow, you will be expected to:

  • Develop, lead, and manage an independent education project that aligns with the university's strategic goals, or
  • Establish learning circles, networks, and/or think tanks that explore new opportunities in education or address current challenges faced by Monash and/or other higher education institutions, or
  • Pilot and implement educational initiatives that enhance student learning experiences.

You will also be expected to:

  • Conduct education research in your chosen area to drive innovation and evidence-based improvements.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends and developments in higher education and incorporate relevant ideas into your project.
  • Collaborate with other fellows and academic staff to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Share your insights, findings, and successes through presentations, publications, or workshops to benefit the broader academic community.
  • Provide regular progress reports on your leadership project status, challenges, and achievements.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the fellowship program.

  • A demonstration of commitment to learning and teaching (a reference to examples of any curriculum development, leading roles in learning and teaching projects, developing or disseminating best practices, etc.)
  • A summary of the area(s) of expertise that the applicant has to offer and an indication of how they might influence the strategic direction or enhance practice and policy within the institution
  • A commitment from the applicant that they will make time for the role alongside their other commitments
  • FHEA or SFHEA recognition or a commitment to apply for an Advance HE fellowship within the duration of the fellowship.
  • In 100 words or less, describe the focus area you would  want to work on and why?
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and teaching
  • Skills in driving educational change
  • Possession of FHEA or SFHEA recognition or willingness to pursue an Advance HE fellowship
  • Commit at least 2 years, in addition to existing workload, without the provision for time off or workload reduction
