NCD Awareness Programme at Kg Abdullah

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are also known as chronic diseases. They are not passed from person-to-person. They usually happen over a long duration and generally progress slowly. Smoking, physical inactivity, alcohol use and an unhealthy diet may lead to NCDs. Kawasan Rukun Tetangga (KRT) and Komuniti Sihat Perkasa Negara (KOSPEN) Kg. Abdullah organised an NCD Awareness Programme on 5 November 2016 in collaboration with SEACO. This NCD intervention is delivered to strengthen early detection of NCDs and timely treatment. SEACO set up several health check booths for Body Mass Index (BMI), Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose, Electrocardiogram (ECG) and Basic Eye screening. Participants who had any risk factors from the tests were advised to seek a medical professional for further check-ups. This event successfully attracted around 80 participants from Kg. Abdullah. Participants were advised on the importance of getting a general health check at least annually.
