What We Can Do

Co-design research with the community: working with residents to shape research questions, study design and recruitment, so projects are culturally grounded and locally meaningful.

Engage participants and stakeholders: through dialogue sessions, town halls, focus group discussions and one-to-one conversations with community members, gatekeepers and groups too often left out.

Promote health and public understanding: health-screening, awareness campaigns, and community health talks on the issues residents tell us matter most, from non-communicable diseases and mental health to maternal and child health, infectious disease, and climate and health.

Use creative and participatory methods: including community mapping that surfaces lived experience in ways a survey never could.

Give findings back: plain-language summaries, infographics, short films and community report-back events that return results to the people who made them possible.

Strengthen capacity: training researchers, students and community members in ethical, effective and participatory engagement.

Guide and safeguard studies: convening community and stakeholder panels that advise our research and protect participants' interests.
