Why it Matters

Why it matters

We believe good science starts with good relationships. That is why we invest in long-term partnerships with residents, community leaders, clinics, local authorities, and policymakers across Segamat’s five sub-districts and its Malay, Chinese, Indian and Orang Asli communities. In this way the questions we ask, the methods we use and the findings we share genuinely reflect community priorities. Engagement is also how we honour the trust people place in us: it keeps our research accountable to the people who make it possible.

Communities are not just part of the research, they help shape it. When we work together with respect and understanding, everyone benefits.
