SEACO Celebrates its 5th Year Anniversary
The South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO) is a Monash University Malaysia research platform that focuses on community health and well-being. SEACO was founded on 20 November 2011 and launched by the Menteri Besar. It has grown significantly since its humble beginnings and this year celebrated its 5th anniversary. SEACO started in Segamat with a small team. Today, SEACO employs more than twenty full time staff and maintains strong collaborations with Monash University Australia, Cambridge University, Newcastle University, the University of Amsterdam and also government institutions; District Health Office of Segamat and Ministry of Health (MOH). SEACO now has stronger relationship with the locals and together, work towards a healthy community. In celebration of its 5th anniversary, a special dinner event was held in Subang Jaya on 25 November 2016. This event was attended by all SEACO staff; SEACO’s community advisors, Madam Kong and Dr. Mak and family; Dr. Emma Rhule and her family; Mr. Maran, Mr. Gana and Mr. Navin from Citizen Journalists Malaysia (CJMY) and also Mrs. Linda Patricia from Monash University Malaysia. Throughout its existence, SEACO has earned a reputation as a research platform which offers high-quality data for better insight to factors that affect community health in a whole of life context.
