Live for Life – Screening for Early Detection of Non-Communicable Diseases at Kg Abdullah

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are also known as chronic diseases. They are not passed from person-to-person; they usually happen along a lengthy duration and generally progress slowly. On 19 May 2017, SEACO gave support to a Health Check Campaign organised by KOSPEN Rukun Tetangga Kg. Abdullah. Komuniti Sihat Perkasa Negara (KOSPEN) is the transformation of public health services to improve the health of Malaysians. The implementation is based on volunteers (GSiM) from the community to act as agents to mobilise the society towards healthy lifestyles and prevent non-communicable diseases. KOSPEN’s main interventions are to promote healthy eating, practice of physical activity, weight management, practice of non-smoking, and to conduct health screening for early detection of NCD risk factors. Almost 80 local villagers were successfully screened in this event.
