Visit by YB Datuk Chua Tee Yong

SEACO operates in five of the 11 sub-districts of Segamat, namely: Sungai Segamat, Gemereh, Jabi, Chaah and Bekok. These five selected mukims are considered the “SEACO mukims”. YB Datuk Chua Tee Yong is the Member of Parliament for the Labis constituency in the State of Johor which includes Bekok and Chaah. On 4 June 2017, SEACO invited YB Datuk Chua over to showcase our research and community activities in the sub-districts of Bekok and Chaah. After the showcase, YB Datuk Chua had a short talk with the staff. He said that the groundwork that the SEACO staff does is not easy as it requires patience and energy, and what SEACO has done so far has benefited the community of Segamat. He also emphasised the importance of conducting regular community health checks since the community lacks awareness on health and various non-communicable diseases (NCDs). SEACO hopes to work more closely with the community in the near future.
