SEACO Hari Raya Celebration
Hari Raya Aidilfitri, or Eid as it is known in many other countries, is a festive observance lasting for one month, marking the end of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Ramadan is a period of sober repentance for Muslims, with approximately 30 days of dawn-to-dusk fasting. Adherents of the faith also devote much of the month to worship, charitable deeds and acts of compassion. SEACO Asia also not miss a chance to celebrate the joyous month together with the staff and the community.
On 27 June 2019, 120 of peoples including the stakeholders, community leaders came to SEACO Asia open house to celebrate Hari Raya together.
Surprisingly, YB Natrah and YB Tuan Pang Hok Liong also came and we really grateful with their willingness to make time by accepting our invitation. However, YB Santhara can’t make it but he did send his representatives to the programs.
“It was good to have an organization like this in Segamat,” said YB Natrah. The southeast Asia Community Observatory (SEACO) is a research platform in population, health and well being in regional Malaysia. SEACO is not a traditional cohort study. It is a partnership with the community of Segamat and a greater body of stakeholders at the state and federal levels.
“We shared our data with MOH,” says Ruhaida, SEACO field manager “With the data collection, we will know the health quality and health level of people in Segamat.” she adds.
The celebrations start from 12 pm until 4 pm. SEACO staffs are required to wear Baju Kurung as part of the program. “We really hope to have this kind of gathering like this every year. It strengthens the bond between SEACO, stakeholders, and community.” Says SEACO staff Shuhada. Besides, its a great opportunity to disseminate information about SEACO as part of our continuous effort of reminding peoples of what we exactly do.
