President and Pro Vice-Chancellor of Monash University Malaysia Visits SEACO, Strengthening Community Ties
On July 18, 2023, SEACO had the honour of hosting a distinguished group of guests, including Professor Dato Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman, the newly appointed President and Pro Vice-Chancellor of Monash University Malaysia. The delegation also included esteemed academics and officials from both Monash University Malaysia and Australia, making it a special occasion for SEACO and the local community.
Joining Professor Dato Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman were Professor Sophia Zoungas, Head of School for Public Health & Preventive Medicine and Division of Chronic Disease & Ageing at Monash University Australia, and Professor Shajahan Yasin, Head of School for Medicine & Health Sciences at Monash University Malaysia. The delegation also included Professor G. R. Letchuman Ramanathan, representing Clinical School Johor Bahru (CSJB), Monash University Malaysia.
The esteemed guests were warmly received by representatives from SEACO and prominent community figures, including headmen namely; Encik Shahrizan Abd Aziz (Headman, Jabi sub-district), Encik Nur Shah Afendi Bin Asmun (Headman, Gemereh sub-district), Encik Ishak bin Abu Bakar (Headman, Sg. Segamat sub-district), Encik Yusof (Headman, Chaah sub-district), Encik Azman bin Abu Bakar (Headman, Bekok sub-district), and stakeholders namely; Cik Kong Wey Hong (SEACO Stakeholder), Encik Yaakop bin Md Yusof (Tok Batin, Kg. Orang Asli Lenek Bekok), Puan Zorilla Binti Abd Hamid (President, Breast Cancer Support Society Segamat), Puan Jamilah Saad (Committee, Breast Cancer Support Society Segamat). This gathering provided an excellent opportunity for a fruitful exchange of ideas, fostering collaboration between SEACO and the community for mutual benefits.
During their visit, the delegation had the pleasure of touring one of the government clinics in the SEACO sub-district, Klinik Kesihatan IOI. The guests were introduced to the clinic's operations, engaged in discussions with healthcare professionals, and observed the clinic's facilities and infrastructure. This visit served to strengthen the partnership between SEACO and healthcare providers, working towards improving the well-being of the local community.
A special moment of recognition was reserved for Professor Dato Dr. Adeeba Kamarulzaman, the President and Pro Vice-Chancellor of Monash University Malaysia. In her address, Professor Dato Dr. Adeeba also extended her heartfelt congratulations to SEACO for their remarkable achievements over the past 12 years.
SEACO would like to express profound gratitude to all the visitors for their genuine interest in witnessing the organization's operations first-hand. Furthermore, sincere appreciation goes to the Segamat District Health Office (PKD), Klinik Kesihatan IOI, village headmen, stakeholders, and all involved parties for their invaluable cooperation and support.
The visit concluded with a sense of optimism and camaraderie, with all parties reaffirming their commitment to collaborative efforts for the betterment of the community. SEACO looks forward to continuing this fruitful partnership and making a positive impact on the well-being of the people it serves.
