Professor Nick Wareham's Visit to SEACO

On October 19 and 20, 2023, SEACO received a visit from Professor Nick Wareham, Director of the MRC Epidemiology Unit at the University of Cambridge School of Clinical Medicine and Co-Director of the Institute of Metabolic Science. This visit marks a crucial step in the ongoing effort to strengthen collaboration between research institutions and public health with the goal of enhancing community well-being.

During the visit, various activities were conducted, including a trip to the Klinik Desa Paya Pulai. Professor Nick Wareham had the opportunity to witness firsthand the healthcare services provided to the community at the  Klinik Desa Paya Pulai. It also provided a direct insight into the challenges and healthcare needs in Segamat. Additionally, a Presentation Session about SEACO was conducted to provide an overview of the activities and research conducted by SEACO. This session helped in understanding the vital role of SEACO in improving public health and research at the local level. As part of the visit, there was also a simulation of the data collection process, a crucial step in understanding SEACO's research processes and how data is gathered for analysis.
