South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO), Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia – Research, Experimentation and Discovery (RED)

SEACO was pleased to welcome students from Monash University as part of the Research, Experimentation and Discovery (RED) program on 15 July 2025.

Throughout the visit, SEACO conducted a briefing session to introduce its operations, roles, and core functions in conducting community-based research. To provide a more immersive and practical understanding, the students were taken to visit the home of a local community leader—offering them a direct glimpse into the field data collection process carried out by SEACO.

The visit continued with a tour of one of SEACO’s weather stations located in Sungai Segamat, which plays a significant role in supporting environmental data collection. In addition, a group discussion session was held with the stakeholder and the Breast Cancer Support Society Segamat, allowing students to explore research-related topics and gain deeper insights from local experiences and community engagement.

SEACO extends its sincere appreciation and gratitude to all participating students and academic staff for taking the time to visit. We hope this visit has provided valuable experience, enhanced knowledge, and inspired greater interest in community-based research.
