Visit of Honorary Delegation from Heidelberg University to the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia

From 20th to 22nd February 2025, the School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia, had the privilege of hosting a distinguished delegation from Heidelberg University. The delegation included Professor Rainer Sauerborn, Senior Professor at Heidelberg University; Dr. Sandra Barteit, Research Group Leader for Digital Global Health at Carl Zeiss Stiftung NEXUS Research Group; Dr. Julia Feriato Corvetto, Doctoral Student at Heidelberg University; and Jamila Nabieva, Public Health Practitioner at HIGH.

The visit began at the Clinical School Johor Bahru (CSJB) with a research seminar titled "Climate-smart Health Systems & Low-carbon Healthcare, and the Regional Hub for Asia Climate Change and Health (REACH) Consortium," followed by engaging discussions on potential research collaborations in the area of low-carbon healthcare.

The delegation then visited SEACO in Segamat, where they received a detailed briefing on SEACO's operations and its pivotal role in the collection and analysis of community data in Malaysia. The briefing encompassed ongoing research projects, initiatives, and the significant social impact generated through efforts aimed at improving community well-being in Segamat.

As part of the visit’s itinerary, the delegation was taken to the field, providing them with a hands-on understanding of the data collection process and an opportunity to interact directly with the local community.
