Heat Adaptation through Community and Research-Based Approaches at SEACO, Monash University Malaysia

The South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO), School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia conducted a project briefing entitled “Heat Adaptation through Community and Research-Based Approaches at SEACO, Monash University Malaysia” at the Segamat District Office on 22 January 2026.

The briefing was attended by Ms Nur Hadirah binti Mohd Shariff, Assistant District Officer of Segamat; Tuan Haji Mohamed Yusof bin Abu Bakar, Senior Village Head (Penghulu Kanan); and Ms Asiyah, who served as the Secretariat. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr Tin Tin Su, Director of SEACO, and supported by Dr Hamimatunnisa, SEACO Research Fellow, who presented an overview of the project and provided information on its objectives, scope of implementation, and the research approach to be undertaken at the community level.

The primary purpose of the session was to provide a comprehensive briefing on the project implementation, while also obtaining views, feedback, and support from the Segamat District Office to facilitate the smooth delivery of the planned interventions. The session also served as a platform for two-way engagement to strengthen collaboration between the research team and district administrative stakeholders.

It is hoped that this strategic collaboration will continue and be strengthened in support of the implementation of the project for the benefit of the local community.
