Evidence-Based Medicine Workshop 2019

Date: 16 &17 July 2019 (Tue & Wed)
Venue: Level 2, Monash 3, Clinical School JB
Overview
Ever felt overwhelmed by loads of ‘latest’ journal articles on your e-mail or social media screens? Ever wondered how to decide if they are reliable, and if the findings should change your practice? If all this bothers you, you will find this workshop useful.
The workshop will guide the busy clinicians through different types of journal articles. You will gain the skills to appraise the methodology, to make sense of the results and their significance; and to judge if the results apply to your patients. You will be clearer on the concept of Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM) and more confident with terms like randomization, relative risks, number needed to treat and confidence intervals. The workshop will also cover the use of online resources like PubMed and Cochrane, and the application of GRADE criteria in the development of clinical guidelines.
The facilitators are senior consultants who are experienced in facilitating EBM workshops locally and internationally.
