Field Methods in Anthropology and International Development ATS3248: Day 3 and 4 Field Work
Field Methods in Anthropology and International Development ATS3248 aimed at providing experience in developing a research question, designing appropriate research field methods, gathering data, analysing that data, and reporting that data. Other than that, it is also aimed at providing experience in working with field interpreters and in complex cross-cultural settings, as well as in communicating in a presentation and written report about the significance, design, and findings of a small-scale research project.
For days 3 and 4, they conducted their focus group discussion (FGD) by visiting the local community, stakeholders, and committee members in Bekok and Gemereh. They also conducted the observation at the temple, supermarket, nursery, and livestock farm.
It is very hard to say goodbye to such a kind and friendly community in Segamat. All the students are very grateful to everyone involved in making this programme a success and hope to meet again in the future!
