South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO), School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia - Comprehensive Research Methods 101 Workshop for District Health Office Medical Officers
20 June 2024, Sunday - In a significant collaboration, the South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO), School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia, proudly organized the Comprehensive Research Methods 101 workshop. This workshop was specifically designed for District Health Office Medical Officers across Johor (Johor Bahru District Health Office, Segamat Health Office, Batu Pahat District Health Office, Kluang Health Office at Kluang Sihat, Mersing District Health Office, Kulai District Health Office, Tangkak District Health Office, Kota Tinggi District Health Office, and Segamat Hospital) who are about to begin their journey towards Master's and PhD studies in Public Health and Family Medicine.
The workshop sessions took place on May 2, 6, 9, 16, 21, 23, and June 20, 2024, either in a hybrid format or face-to-face at the SEACO office. The lineup of instructors leading the Comprehensive Research Methods 101 workshop included Professor Dr. Tin Tin Su, SEACO Director, Dr. Nowrozy Kamar Jahan, Senior Lecturer at the School of Medicine, Monash University Malaysia, Dr. Fatima Ibrahim Abdulsalam, SEACO Research Fellow, Monash University Malaysia, Dr. Hamimatunnisa Johar, Research Fellow at the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health (HIGH, Germany), and Mr. Roshidi bin Ismail (Assistant Manager, Statistics, SEACO).
This course offered a comprehensive curriculum covering essential topics such as Fundamentals of Research Proposals, Planning and Implementing Public Health Programs, Basic SPSS Workshop, Intervention and Observational Study Designs. The course concluded with a special segment where all participants presented their Research Proposals and received valuable feedback from the instructors and invited panelists, consisting of Public Health Specialists and Family Medicine Specialists from the Segamat District Health Center (PKD).
