Field Methods in Anthropology and International Development ATS3248 & APG4248 offers students a valuable opportunity to acquire both theoretical and practical training in qualitative and ethnographic field research methods. Students will embark on an immersive 19-day experience in Malaysia, specifically at Monash University Malaysia. Throughout the course, they will collaborate with unit coordinators based in Australia, local staff from the School of Arts and Social Sciences (Monash University Malaysia), and the South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO), School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia.

On June 28, 2024, the students arrived safely at SEACO, Segamat, where they were warmly welcomed and given an introduction to SEACO's ongoing research projects and a basic Malay language class. The students took the initiative to learn Malay and actively introduced themselves in Malay.

This effort added an element of fun and enriched the learning experience, fostering a positive start to their journey. With this spirit, the students are ready and committed throughout the course!
