South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO), School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Monash University Malaysia - Visit to Mukim Bekok with Heat Care Project Researchers at SEACO

On 30 May 2024, SEACO organised a visit for the researchers from the Heat Care Project to Mukim Bekok to visit the Orang Asli villages. The researchers involved were Dr. Thahirahtul Asma Zakaria, Public Health Medicine Specialist, Environmental Health Unit, Disease Control Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia; Dr. Sandra Barteit, Head of Digital Global Health Research Group, Heidelberg Institute of Global Health, Germany; and Dr. Darwin Gouwanda, Senior Lecturer, School of Engineering, Monash University Malaysia.

The visit began with a trip to Kampung Orang Asli Sri Tembayan to see examples of houses built by the government for the resettlement of the Orang Asli. The visit continued to Kampung Tamok and Kudong. During the visit, they also had the opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Sungai Bantang Waterfall recreational area.

In conclusion, SEACO extends its heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the researchers for visiting the SEACO office. We sincerely hope that this visit will be a catalyst for closer collaboration in the future.
