Message from the Head of School

The Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences gives you an opportunity to study in one of the top medical schools in the world. You will get a truly international experience while spending time in public and private healthcare facilities in Malaysia as well as in healthcare settings in and around Melbourne, Australia.

The course is offered over five years at Monash University Malaysia. It is an interdisciplinary and integrated course that provides world-class training in biomedical sciences, social sciences and clinical skills. There is a particular focus on patient safety as well as enhanced research and professional practice skills. You will be prepared to save lives and make a difference to your communities and around the world. You will spend the first two years of the course at our modern campus at Bandar Sunway and the remaining three years at our purpose built clinical school in Johor Bahru where clinical training will be at the tertiary referral hospital at Sultanah Aminah Hospital.

In addition to the medicine degree, the School also offers Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Honours), Bachelor of Human Nutrition, Bachelor of Psychology, Bachelor of Psychology and Business, Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and Master of Professional Counselling as well as Master of Biomedical Science and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).

Our psychology courses will help you pave the way to pursue a career as a research or professional psychologist. The courses are designed to provide you with advanced knowledge in specific areas of the science and practice of psychology. The honours program incorporates a supervised research project which aims to provide training in both discipline-specific and generic research skills. This course also prepares you for the transition into pursuing a higher degree such as Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctor of Psychology (DPsych) as well as Masters in Psychology courses.

We also have a vibrant, community-centric research culture. Our researchers have discovered new genes and hormones that show promise as targeting proteins for cancer research. They have also patented discoveries likely to lead to new products for treating infectious and cardiovascular diseases.

The School is also home to South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO), which is a health and demographic surveillance system (HDSS) located in District of Segamat, Johor.
