Summary

The world is facing a rapid disruption of international collaborations and disregard for formal and informal norms and principles. This has resulted in a rupturing of global governance, development assistance for aid structures, and ways of consensus building. In this context it is necessary to ask the question “where do we go from here?” which is central to the existence of global health as a field.

The way we approach the future of consensus building and governance architecture is critical to how we address global health threats within the polycrisis we face including pandemics and climate crisis. This is highly relevant to the regions such as South East Asia, South Asia, and African region who have often been negatively impacted by reactions to global health threats such as epidemics and pandemics, climate crisis and more. Therefore, it is necessary to examine the structures and processes of consensus building and power sharing in global health: to learn lessons from the past and to chart paths forward.
