Welcome from the Head of School

Brigadier General Professor Dr Mohd Arshil Moideen (Rtd)
The Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences offers you the opportunity to study at one of the top medical schools in the world. You'll gain a truly international experience through placements in both public and private healthcare facilities in Malaysia, as well as in healthcare settings in and around Melbourne, Australia.
The Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine course is offered over five years at Monash University Malaysia. It is an interdisciplinary and integrated program that provides world-class training in biomedical sciences, social sciences, and clinical skills. The course places particular emphasis on patient safety, along with enhanced research and professional practice skills. You will be equipped to save lives and make a meaningful impact in your communities and around the world.
Students spend the first two years at our modern campus in Bandar Sunway, and the remaining three years at our purpose-built Clinical School in Johor Bahru, where clinical training is conducted at the tertiary referral Sultanah Aminah Hospital.
In addition to the medicine degree, the School also offers Bachelor of Medical Sciences (Honours), Bachelor of Human Nutrition, Bachelor of Psychology, Bachelor of Psychology and Business, Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and Master of Professional Counselling, as well as Master of Biotechnology, Master of Biomedical Science and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). We’re also excited to introduce two new courses— the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) and Master of Clinical Psychology, launched in February 2026.
Our psychology courses will help you build a pathway towards a career as a research or professional psychologist. They are designed to provide advanced knowledge in both the science and practice of psychology. The Honours program includes a supervised research project that develops discipline-specific and transferable research skills. This course also prepares you for further studies, including higher degrees such as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Masters in Psychology or the newly introduced Master of Clinical Psychology courses.
At our School, we transform an interest in healthy eating into a professional pathway. Our course in Human Nutrition prepares graduates to promote health and well-being through evidence-based nutritional practice.
We also foster a vibrant, community-centric research culture. Our researchers have discovered new genes and hormones that show promise as targets for cancer research and have patented discoveries with the potential to lead to new treatments for infectious and cardiovascular diseases. The School is home to three research platforms—Proteomics and Metabolomics, Optical Imaging, and Animal Research—which provide services to both the campus and industry.
The School is also home to the South East Asia Community Observatory (SEACO). Located in the district of Segamat, Johor, SEACO is a unique health and demographic surveillance system (HDSS) that engages closely with local communities to generate high-quality, longitudinal data. It not only informs national and regional health policies but also strengthens our School’s reputation as a leader in impactful, community-based research.
