Monash University Malaysia student will have two (2) accounts in the campus. These accounts are for the use of IT resources for learning. The accounts are;
- Monash IT Account
- Network Account
Please take note that the username for Monash IT Account and Network Account are the same. However, the passwords are managed separately. Monash IT Account is administered by eSolutions in Monash Australia. Network Account is administered by local IT Services Department.
Passwords and security
Your Monash password expires every six months. To ensure you have a strong password, it must meet the following criteria:
It must be between 8 and 12 characters in length.
It must also include:
- A combination of upper and lower case letters
- At least one number
- One or more symbols (excluding the following symbols @ “ ‘ and space bar)
- It cannot be a dictionary word or a simple string of letters or numbers
- It cannot be any of your previous six passwords

Multi-factor authentication (MFA)
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) provides you with increased protection, keeping your personal information private and secure. It involves using your phone to verify your identity when logging in (just like most banks use when you make a transfer online). There's more information in the section from this link:
Monash has introduced multi-factor authentication (MFA) backup codes that allow you to reset your MFA without having to contact the service desk. Go to link below for the guide to generate your backup codes.
New student is advised to complete the Monash Account Registration Service before the orientation week. The completion if this service is important for Network Account creation. Failure to complete the Monash Account Registration Service can delay your Network Account creation.
