The 4th Annual CSJB Research Week

The 4th Clinical School Johor Bahru (CSJB) Research Week was held from 14 to 21 July 2016. This annual program has gone through significant developments in the last four years. This year saw the highest number of participants consisted of the Year 3 to Year 5 medical students.
The participating projects were the result of collaboration between CSJB and Hospital Sultanah Aminah Johor Bahru as well as Klinik Kesihatan Mahmoodiah. The overall quality of the research projects had improved and topics had extended to new areas, like use of telecommunication in medicine and analysis of heavy metal in foods.
The new research workshops that were introduced this year aimed towards enhancing the knowledge in research skills. The workshops held for different target groups were:
For students:
- End Note workshop conducted by Ms Aniza Ahmad (Library and Learning Commons)
- Research Methods workshop conducted by Dr Amutha Ramadas
- Basic Statistics workshop conducted by Dr Amutha Ramadas
For academic staff:
- Research and Scholarly Communication workshop conducted by Ms Joanne Sweeney (Library and Learning Commons)
For doctors from the neighbouring hospitals and community clinics:
- Research 101– Essential Tips for Establishing Your Research Program workshop conducted by Professor Pascale Allotey and Professor Daniel Reidpath.
The oral presentation for the research projects during Research Symposium held on the last day was indeed the highlight of the Research Week. The winners for the Research Idea category and the Completed Project Category all received trophies and cash prizes ranging from RM500 to RM1,500.
