JCSMHS Early Career Researcher Wins Bronze Medal at PECIPTA 2017
JCSMHS academicians have again made Monash proud by winning awards at international conference. Dr Mohd Farooq Shaikh and his neuropharmacology research team won a bronze award at PECIPTA 2017 which is an International Conference and Exposition on Inventions by Institutions of Higher Learning held in October 2017.
PECIPTA is a biannual program organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia together with its partner institution science since 2001. PECIPTA aims to showcase innovative products and services from institutions of higher learning (IHL). PECIPTA also aims to enhance networking and collaboration among its participants, industry and others potential players to further explore and commercialize their products.
The project was presented under the cluster of Health, Medical, Pharmaceutical, Food & Supplement. Dr Mohd. Farooq Shaikh is the principle investigator for the project entitled ‘NP-A as a memory enhancer and potential molecule for neurodegenerative disease’. With this innovation, Dr. Mohd. Farooq Shaikh has demonstrated that this NP-A is a potential nutraceutical product, and further research is going on in his laboratory and the patent application process is in progress. Other members of the team include PhD student B Saatheeyavaane, Dr. Yatinesh Kumari, Prof. Iekshan Othman and Dr. Nafees Ahemad.
