JCSMHS researcher wins Best Paper Award at International Conference
A cutting edge innovation and research led by Associate Professor Arkendu Sen from JCSMHS has recently won the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Smart System, Innovation and Computing held in April 2017 at Jaipur, India.
The project focuses on a new form of application of learning technology that is being researched at the Medical Anatomy and Pathology E-Learning (MAPEL) lab at Jeffrey Cheah School of Medicine and Health Sciences (JCSMHS). Dr Sen who is the principal investigator, through the Monash Better Teaching Better Learning (BTBL) grant spearheads this cutting edge research named “Development and impact of 3D Interactive Monash Augmented Reality Anatomy Learning Objects (MARALO)”.
Other team members of the project include Associate Professor Lakshmi Selvaratnam, Associate Professor Alexandre Schaefer and Md Imran Md Naing, as well as MBBS student researcher Calvin Kah Chuen Leong.
Dr Sen remarked that winning this award at the early stage of this research project is in fact a recognition of the novelty of this research that utilises computer applications for learning and teaching. The senior jury members of the award also commented that the paper presented by Dr Sen has delved into an important aspect of augmented reality and smart learning systems that has great potential for further development into a multidisciplinary research in years to come.
