My research journey at Monash University Malaysia was an all-rounded experience with opportunities to learn within and beyond one’s field of interest. I was inspired by the passion for academic research and commitment to high standards of scholarship, which has become part of my principles today.

Monash also enjoys a prestigious reputation in the African region which has been beneficial to my career growth and development.To be able to pass down my research expertise to the younger generation, especially in parts of the world where access to such knowledge is limited, has been fulfilling.

Coming from Botswana, home and family were far away, the warmth I experienced at the School of Business, being surrounded by so many people who became like a second family to me, was truly an invaluable experience.

I am forever grateful to my fellow PhD mates, supervisors and research office for the constant support that made my academic journey possible. Overall, I was left humbled by the program and motivated to engage in a journey of lifelong learning.

This has inspired my motto in life: You don’t know, what you don’t know.

Dr Zubeida Rossenkhan completed her PhD with the School of Business in 2018. Her research topic was ‘Pathways for Career Success: An Exploration of the Malaysian Context’.
