Ideas for Tomorrow: Innovate for Impact

28 August 2024

The EIHUB Challenge: Ideas for Tomorrow returned with an exciting new theme, "Innovate for Impact," encouraging students to reimagine entrepreneurial and innovative ideas that can drive a more sustainable and equitable world.

Whether through groundbreaking technological advancements, new social initiatives, or fresh perspectives, the challenge sought visionary solutions with the potential to create real, meaningful change. Hosted by the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub (eiHub), the competition united Monash University Malaysia students from all disciplines, igniting their passion for entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation.

This semester’s theme, "Innovate for Impact," showcased 8 standout finalists, each tasked with addressing urgent social and environmental challenges. From technological breakthroughs to new social initiatives, these innovators were driven to devise solutions that not only address pressing issues but also spark meaningful change.

Meet our exceptional winners:

Shoandeep Radhakrishnan, our First-Place champion, took home RM 1,000 and the EIHUB Challenge trophy for his revolutionary concept, "TechWeave." This innovative solution incorporates Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) technology into bed covers, designed to combat pressure ulcers and bedsores with unparalleled comfort, cost-effectiveness, and ease of use.

Nicholyn and Shaheen Abu Bakar, our e-Merit Award winners, each received RM 500 and exclusive Monash merchandise.

Nicholyn's idea, "Eco-Breeze," is a next-gen air purifier that uses natural, eco-friendly materials to tackle indoor air pollution while minimising environmental impact.

Shaheen’s "FuelGuard" is a groundbreaking digital platform that revolutionises the distribution and management of government fuel subsidies, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.

From a pool of over 40 proposals, these 8 finalists were selected based on their relevance, impact, and sustainability in line with this year’s theme.

Our panel of distinguished judges included:

  • Johnson Goh, Co-Founder & CEO of MindHive
  • Dr. Racheal Louis Vincent from the School of Business, Monash University Malaysia
