Monash Innovation Guarantee Celebrates Another Successful Cohort

99 students. 13 Industry partners. 3 weeks of tackling real-world business challenges. The third Monash Innovation Guarantee (MIG) Malaysia has successfully concluded, bringing together students from across the university to co-create innovative solutions for real-world industry problems.
Led by Dr. Daniel Loy, Director of the Entrepreneurship & Innovation Hub, this cohort welcomed students from all disciplines to work alongside several industry partners, including CelcomDigi, Crossfit LLC, and Sunway Malls, among others. Throughout the programme, students engaged in regular consultations with their industry partners, receiving constructive feedback and mentorship to refine their ideas into impactful, purpose-driven solutions.

As one of Monash University’s Flagship Rich Education Experiences (FREE), MIG brings together students from diverse disciplines to work in multidisciplinary teams. Guided by industry mentors, participants gain valuable hands-on experience while strengthening their problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation skills to address complex challenges beyond the classroom.
Throughout the programme, participants also took part in a Fireside Chat titled Sparking Innovation, featuring Dr. Daniel Loy, Yong Hui Yan,Sunway Innovation Labs (iLabs), Sunway University, and Jamie Wan, Taylor’s Bizpod, Taylor’s University. The session explored the role of innovation, entrepreneurship, and cross-sector collaboration in preparing graduates for an evolving future. The programme concluded with an Industry Pitch on 1 July 2026, where students presented their innovative solutions to industry representatives.

Professor Nafis Alam, Head of the School of Business, officially opened the finale with welcoming remarks, expressing his appreciation to the participating industry partners for their continued support in shaping future-ready graduates. Following the success of an earlier cohort, an ongoing collaboration with BMW Group Malaysia is currently underway. This upcoming project highlights how ideas developed through the programme have the potential to evolve into meaningful, long-term industry partnerships. As we conclude this successful chapter of the MIG Malaysia programme, the School of Business looks forward to seeing what new collaborations may emerge.
