Monash University Malaysia and KPMG Sign MoU to Develop Future-Ready Talent

Monash University Malaysia’s School of Business has formalised its partnership with KPMG through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a significant step in advancing industry collaboration and enhancing student employability. This partnership underscores a shared commitment to nurturing future-ready graduates by bridging academic learning with real-world industry practice.
The MoU was signed by Professor Nafis Alam, the university’s Head of School of Business, Monash University Malaysia, and Monash alumnus Gan Yee Hooi, Audit Partner at KPMG, reflecting the strength of the university’s alumni network and its continued role in fostering meaningful industry connections.

Building on a strong foundation of existing initiatives, the collaboration will continue to support internship and graduate placements through structured engagement such as at least one on-site recruitment session per semester. The widely recognised #PaintYourCampusBlue initiative will also be institutionalised as a recurring campus event, strengthening recruitment pipelines and providing students with direct access to career opportunities at KPMG.
Students will benefit from a wide range of academic and professional development activities, including workshops, technical and non-technical guest lectures, career bootcamps, networking events, and dialogue sessions. These initiatives are designed to support students’ academic growth, professional development, and overall employability. In addition, students and lecturers will benefit from industry visits that offer valuable exposure to real-world business environments.

A key component of the collaboration is the KPMG Ambassadorship Programme, where selected students nominated by the faculty will gain deeper engagement with the firm. Under the MoU, this programme will be further strengthened through curated online learning modules that provide practical insights into KPMG’s work culture and industry practices.
New initiatives introduced under the partnership include the KPMG Young Star Education Trust Fund, which aims to support deserving students through financial assistance and development opportunities. The collaboration will also feature curated industry dialogue sessions involving KPMG representatives, faculty members, and strategic partners to exchange perspectives on emerging trends, industry needs, and graduate expectations. Additionally, exclusive “Up Close & Personal” sessions with KPMG leaders and alumni will provide students with valuable insights into professional journeys and career pathways.
