Mockup General Studies

General Studies

Find everything you need to know about General Studies, including the graduation requirements and the units you need to complete. Use this page as your guide to planning and fulfilling your General Studies requirements.

Should I enrol in General Studies and when should I do so?

Yes. As a student at our Malaysian campus, you are required by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) to complete the prescribed General Studies units. These units are compulsory for graduation.

You may complete these units at any point during your enrolment, but we recommend doing so within your first three semesters. Completing them early helps spread your study load and allows you to focus on higher-level units as you progress through your degree.

How do I enrol in my General Studies units?

To enrol in General Studies, go to WES and click on “Enrolment / Re-enrolment” and “I agree”

You should be able to see your degree title and course code (e.g. B2026) and General Studies (Mata Pelajaran Pengajian Umum) Degree (9410). If you are unable to see it, please log out of WES and log in again, use a different browser, or use incognito mode.

Once you have selected 9410, you may enrol in your general studies units following the same process for your main units.

What General Studies units should I enrol in?

You would need to complete the units listed here, according to your intake.

Why is my SPM Bahasa Melayu credit not reflected in my WES?

For Malaysian students: If you scored at least a Credit in Bahasa Melayu for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) but it is not reflected in WES, please submit your SPM certificate via AskMira (Help Topic: General Studies) for us to update the system. Do note that we do not accept Bahasa Melayu results in the UEC and IGCSE certifications.
