Honours Application Information

Progression to A3701 Bachelor of Arts (Honours)

Students successfully completing the Arts Bachelor course may proceed to a one-year honours program leading to the Bachelor of Arts (Honours).

Application Closing date

February 2027 intake – Malaysian and International Students: 27 November 2026, 12 noon (GMT+8 Malaysia time).

Eligibility:

Successful completion of an Australian undergraduate degree (or equivalent) including a major in their chosen Honours area of study (Communication; Gender Studies; Global Studies and Film, Television and Screen Studies) with a distinction grade average (75 per cent) or above in 24 points of studies in relevant discipline units at level three and an overall WAM of 75 in their completed undergraduate degree (or equivalent). For some majors, completion of specific units, or their equivalent, are also required for admission to the Honours course. The details are provided with the requirements for each major to which this applies.

Note: Applicants with an Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent) with an overall WAM between 70 and 75 may be considered upon satisfactory completion of the interview.

Application submission process:

Kindly submit the Honours application via the Monash online application portal (My.Application).

Additional notes:

(i) Don’t forget to upload the research project proposal form (page 3) together with your 1,000-word dissertation proposal in the Monash online application portal.

(ii) We encourage you to make an appointment with your nominated supervisor(s) to discuss potential project ideas. Carefully consider your research interests and match them with the research specializations of the staff members. Academic Staff profiles are available on the SASS website.

(iii) Monash graduates who need access to library materials can do so via the Monash Alumni Portal. Please refer to this link for more information.

What happens after I apply?

(i) You will receive an invitation email from the Arts Education Management Office (EMO) regarding the Arts Honours application interview session. We encourage you to check your email (personal/Monash) regularly so that you won’t miss the date of the interview session.

(ii) Approximately one to two weeks after the interviews, the Admissions Office will correspond with you about the outcome of your Honours application.
