It depends on which course you are enrolled in. If you are enrolled in a 3-year degree, you can apply when you have accumulated at least 18 credit points and a minimum WAM of 60. This can be as early as Year 1 Semester 2 of your degree (assuming that you enrolled for and passed 18 credit points for your Semester 1). For more information, please refer to the Monash Abroad Malaysia website.
Yes, this means that you will have to apply for 2 exchange programs during the same semester. We encourage you to discuss your course map with your course advisor (Ms Nurul Farahin) as early as possible if you wish to participate in both exchange programs.
No, unfortunately, you are only allowed to enrol in an elective unit during the International exchange program.
The answer is yes but this depends on the type of exchange program and the unit exchange availability. We encourage you to contact the course advisor for more confirmation on this matter.
We also encourage you to refer to Monash Abroad FAQ website for more information on the exchange program matters.
You can enrol in the Global Intercampus Exchange Program (unit) once you have received and accepted your offer letter. We encourage you to refer to the "What Happens After I Apply" section on the Global Intercampus Program webpage for more information.
If you fail an exchange unit, you will not earn any credit points, and your grade will be recorded as ‘NSR’ (Not Satisfactory Result). As a result, you will need to retake another unit to make up for the lost credit points. For more information on the Monash grades, please refer to link.
Students can exceed the required credit points; however, it's important to note that credit points are only awarded based on the approved course progression plan (Course map).
No, students only need to submit one application form, indicating that the exchange will span two semesters. For the study plan, students can either submit two study plans for different semesters at the same time or submit each plan separately for each semester.
The course advisor typically arranges drop-in sessions for students and sends a broadcast email with a step-by-step guide on how to participate. This email is usually sent out at least one week before the application period opens. If you are unable to attend the drop-in session, please submit an appointment request via Ask.Mira.
The international students should check with the International Student Program (ISP) once they receive their exchange offer letter. They will need to submit the offer letter to ISP via the ISP Helpdesk for advice.
It is not advisable to discontinue the exchange program halfway or enrol in fewer than the required credit points. Monash Abroad and the school will work to support the students and ensure they remain enrolled in the course and meet the required credit points. However, discontinuing the program should be carefully considered and discussed with relevant advisors.
As of now, Monash Abroad office (Malaysia) has not encountered any instances where students were required to provide evidence of financial capacity to the Australian Government Department of Home Affairs. However, it is advisable for students to have proof of financial capacity ready, in case it is requested by authorities.
