Danny Lim is a journalist, writer and producer who has worked for various Malaysian and international media organisations on a wide variety of news stories, most frequently with the BBC. His most recent publication is "We Are Marching Now: The Inside Story of Bersih 1.0", a narrative non-fiction book delving into the behind-the-scenes history of the Bersih movement.

Tharma Pillai is the Co-Founder and Advocacy Director of Undi18 - a youth movement that successfully advocated for the lowering of the voting age in Malaysia from 21 to 18 years old. The Constitutional Amendment received unanimous votes in Parliament – the first time it has happened in Malaysian history. The UNDI18 Bill has enfranchised an additional 5.8 million voters, transforming the Malaysian political landscape. In 2020, he was part of the team that launched Parlimen Digital, first youth-led virtual Parliament session in the world. Tharma also serves as the Managing Director for Quasa Asia, a policy consulting firm. He is currently building Quasa.ai – a startup building tech for regulatory compliance.

Ain Husniza is a 20-year-old Malaysian activist and the founder of Pocket of Pink, a feminist initiative combining art, advocacy, and education to empower youth. She is passionate about creating equitable and inclusive educational spaces, advocating for Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), and addressing sexual abuse and harassment in schools. Ain is also a member of the UNICEF Young People's Action Team for 2025, where she works alongside other young leaders to drive global initiatives and create impactful change for children and youth worldwide. Additionally, Ain collaborates with funds like the Children’s Rights Innovation Fund (CRIF) and We Are Purposeful, contributing to participatory grant making strategies that prioritize marginalized communities. Through these roles, she has co-developed funding pools to support youth-led initiatives globally by championing feminist advocacy and participatory approaches to equal capital and resource distribution.

Dr Dyah Pitaloka was a Fulbright scholar and received her PhD from the University of Oklahoma and has held academic positions at the National University of Singapore and the University of Sydney, Australia. She currently works at Monash University Jakarta and is the SEADS online gender-based violence researcher. Her research explores issues related to social, cultural, political, and policy dynamics of emerging technology, specifically within the context of health and wellbeing, social inequalities, inclusion and exclusion, and justice in communication and media. She has worked on these topics in relation to Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam and Australia.

The panel will be moderated by Dobby Chew, the Finance Director of MANDIRI.

Dobby Chew is the co-founder and CEO of Hayat, an organization advocating for the abolition of the death penalty in Malaysia and broader criminal law reform. With over a decade of experience in human rights and activism, Dobby is a former Program Manager at SUARAM and has been actively engaged in international efforts to promote justice and human rights.
